Kilby Elementary School opened in 1959. In 1971, the PTA urged the renaming of the school for its first principal, R. Dean Kilby, who served there from 1959 to 1971. In February 2017 the new school building opened on the same grounds.

 

SPECIAL PROGRAMS

Kilby Elementary houses an English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) program and offers full day kindergarten to its students.

Kilby students may register to participate in the Tiger 21 after school program. Tiger 21 is a grant-funded program that provides academic and enrichment opportunities from Sept-June.

EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES 

Kilby fifth graders can serve on the Safety Patrol or as a Kilby Ambassador and all students enjoy participation in Reading is Fundamental (RIF).  Rising 5th graders may participate in the Junior Police Academy in June.

 

OPPORTUNITIES FOR PARENT & COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Kilby parents can join the Parent Engagement Committee.

Kilby is a diverse and hard-working neighborhood school of over 600 children. The school is within walking distance for 95% of its students. The staff has made a commitment to the academic success of each and every student.
