VISITORS
To ensure the safety of all students, all visitors must leave a valid picture ID before a visitor badge will be provided. A visitor badge must be worn at all times while in the school. Parents who bring lunches, books, homework, etc., can leave these items in the office and they will be delivered to the classroom.
CLASSROOM VISITS
In order to observe your child in the classroom, parents will need to contact administration to schedule up to one 30-minute visit per semester. This policy is to protect instructional time and ensure that parent questions can be answered by an administrator without interrupting the instructional process and the teacher.
Volunteering in the classroom can be arranged with the classroom teacher. Be mindful, for students’ safety and by county regulation, visitors must check in the office when entering the building and cannot go to the classroom directly.
PARENT VOLUNTEER PROGRAM
At Kilby we LOVE Parent Volunteers and there are many ways you can volunteer at Kilby, such as:
- Working with students
- Helping the teacher with copies and prep work
- Helping at Schoolwide events
- Chaperone Field Trips
- Help with bulletin boards
- Become a member of the Advisory Council
- And so much more!
Volunteers are always welcome and greatly appreciated. Talk to your child’s teacher or call the school for more information. Please be sure to complete the volunteer training and have a signed volunteer agreement on file. For safety reasons, children are not permitted to be in the workroom with copiers, paper cutters, etc. You may contact our Parent Liaison, Ana Pena Lopez, with any questions. Parents may not bring other children/ siblings into the classroom when volunteering.
BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS
Parents may bring in light and healthy treats for students to enjoy only during the scheduled lunch time. You may also consider motivational pencils, a book for the class library, or a book read aloud to the class. Please, do not send in balloons and goodie bags. If invitations are distributed, please be sure every child in the class receives one.
If you would like to bring in a treat for all students, it must be store bought and made in a facility without nuts.
